When I think about the marathon it just seems so far away and impossible to me that I have a hard time convincing myself to train for it. I am trying to take this training in steps. I like to think of it as “couch to marathon” because even though I wasn’t running regularly, I already knew that I could run a 5k. I guess what I’m trying to say is that a long run to me right now would be a joke to a lot of people who run marathons. A girl has to start somewhere, right?! And apparently Geoff likes to think BIG and I go along with it! I like that it is such a challenge and out of my comfort zone. My plan right now is to train for marathon training. Sounds silly but it is the only way that I am going to be able to get to 26.2!
I’m glad that we have the half marathon to look forward to because 13.1 miles definitely seems more doable. Training so far has been going pretty well. Our long run this week is seven miles. We have been increasing the long run by a mile each week and it has been pretty exciting to see the mileage go up. We need to make more routes that fit longer distances. We have great running trails around us but I’m not sure how good they are with the jogging stroller. Our current predicament is wanting to run together but then having to bring Liam in the jogging stroller. It makes everything more difficult!
A conversation between Geoff and I after seeing this amazing picture of french toast:
J: “Can we go to San Diego so I can eat this french toast?”
G: “Find a race and we can go.”
So apparently I can’t just go on vacation anymore…
